Why I am poor.

I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. One of the many reasons why I'm poor is my keen interest in my hobbies. Warhammer being one of them.
On the left are some of the purchases I made this weekend. The bundle deal for the new foundation paints got me a brand new box of assault terminators, which are going to look extra mean and nasty ( I can't wait) and a limited edition games day 2005 model of the space marine veteran sergeant with a power fist and twin bolt pistol.
This month being the 30th aniversary of White Dawrf, I've been in the stores picking up "bargain" auction models, so far I've got myself 2 blisters of night goblin netters, an empire grandmaster, 2 goblin shamans and a warrior priest of ulric. I'll post photos when I take them. I've also got a lord nurglitch on his rat which is another cool model.
Lastly I managed to get my master of ravenwing model!!! Stoked. Can't wait to paint it but I've decided that that will be done after I've done a little more painting of my other stuff first. So theres plenty of hobby ahead of me. Its going to be interesting juggling that with uni work.

Busy days

Hi all just a quick update for everyone. I'm in the midst of another series of assignements, so painting and hobby has yet again taken a back seat. I'm pretty excited about going to collect the box of foundation paints due to be released on the 26th April. I've pre-ordered the box set along with a $50 box set of my choosing, I've yet to decide on what I'm going to get, I'm considering some assualt marines or perhaps some Devestators :). I'm also painting up some models but I won't be posting photos of them until they are done and delivered.

That'll have to do for now, its all same same.... but different in my neck of the woods.

Conflict 07

Its the day after Conflict (at the time of writing), the big Warhammer tournament has come and gone. I can't believe I placed 15th overall!!!! Yes that's 15th which is significantly better than last place last year, though I did take home best sporting last year. I can't even begin to explain how awesome the result is for me. As you probably would know from the blog, in the week leading up to Conflict I managed to squeeze in a couple of games at the GW Melbourne Central Store I think that helped significantly to me understanding how my army works or can work I should say, better.
Saturday evening I met up with Richard and Alistair, two dudes I met at last years Conflict and have kept in touch with. We played a series of games that evening before crashing at Richards. The plan being to head into Box Hill together the next morning. I've posted just a couple of photos from Saturday evening below;
Here's a picture of Richard & I

Alistair & I

This year despite not coming home with any "prize" I had the best day of Warhammer gaming I've ever had.
Now before I ramble on any further there are plenty more photos which I've uploaded here, http://profile.imageshack.us/user/lennyk/ click on the tag labelled Conflict and it should bring up all the photos I took at conflict.
Having previously establishing a reputation for myself having come last in the previous tournament I was greeted by 2 very friendly and familiar faces, that said, "Lennyyyy! You're here, now go in the corner and adopt the position." in reference to me "bending over" and taking it like a man???? Chris, James & I

James and his hissy fit

So onto the games I played,
Nicholas Read
My first very worthy opponent was Nick. He's got a really nicely painted Khorne Army. We had a good game and I got real lucky with my chariot and boar boyz on the charge after wiping out his warhounds. Not so good for Nick but he was a real good sport and I really enjoyed playing against him. I hope he had as much fun playing against my random orcs. The result was a Massacre in favour of the Orcs, bad luck to the Chaos worshipers of Khorne.

Bretonian Knights
My second opponent was
Lachlan Tom. Unfortunately I didn't get a snapshot of him with his army before the game. The photo above of his Bretonian knights will have to suffice, my apologies Lachy. It was an interesting game, I managed to get the charges on his knights by the 2nd turn and subsequently the flanks but his knights just refused to give in. I ended up fighting 3 combats wining every time but they refused to break and eventually slaughtered off my poor orcs. The result was a Massacre in favour of the Bretonians, well done Lachy.

My last and final opponent was Paul Mayo with his vampire counts army. The vampire counts have some really awesome background and the necromancy and fear causing units are a force to be reckoned with. Paul little did we know also took out 1st place this year at Conflict, so my claim to fame is I played the winner of Conflict 07 :). With skeleton warriors being raised all over the shop, units failing fear checks and refusing to charge and stuff eventually getting slaughtered at the masterful hand of the general of the most fearsome
Lahmian vampire army at Conflict, the result was a Massacre in favour of the Vampires.

So as you can see it was a great day at Conflict, I had a blast. Played awesome and very sporting opponents and got to see some really cool armies. Anyone who's interested there are more photos as alluded to earlier, available at
http://profile.imageshack.us/user/lennyk/ just click on the tag labelled Conflict.

That's all from me for now, its back to slaving at uni for the next couple of weeks before anymore hobby gets done I'm afraid.

Gaming

I realise there has been significant inactivity here on this blog and alot of that is largely my fault. I have been busy with work and all the other things I fill my life with. I recognise that often it is my hobby that suffers as a consequence. I have however over this short uni break in conjunction with the lead up to conflict played quite a number of games and started on a number of projects to keep me very busy over the coming months. Anyway here are some shots of a big game played just this afternoon at the store in Melbourne Central & some poor quality video to boot.

Poor quality video 1 of the playing table.

Finally Progress

Conflict '07 is just around the corner. After laying off the hobby for quite a while, due to work, assignments and as lots of my friends are saying my, "soft-itis" it was a good feeling to get all my hobby stuff out again. I took these photos before going in to the store on saturday to spend most of the morning and early afternoon painting and doing hobby. So below are some pictures of my tentative army which I intend to take to conflict. When I've confirmed it I'll lay the actual army out and post my list but for now this will have to do.
I've also made a little progress with my marine scouts so I'm looking forward to getting them finsihed over easter, and perhaps do significantly more painting in the lead up to the big games day on the 15th April. (Again I apologise for the shity photos, the lighting in my room is really bad and I don't have my tripod).

A copy of the tentative conflict list is available here at, http://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pqikncTe0aTliaEd563NdAQ

So there you go quite an inspiring site to have the army all laid out. I'm excited about the tournament and I hope to keep churning out some mini's and working on more models.
